Madilina House - a riverside retreat in Kerala.
Chendamangalam is a sleepy town north of Cochin. It is seeped in history with the archeological site of Muziris, the ancient port, the palace of the Paliyam royal family, ancient churches and even a mosque within a short radius. It also has the rare distinction of having 3 rivers flow through its midst.
The Madilina House is situated on the banks of Periyar river. Having a panoramic view of the river is a bonus. Built in 2011 by French couple Pierre and Julie Abgrall as their second home, the Madilina House is a fusion of traditional Kerala architecture and western comforts. Built with traditional building materials, laterite bricks, wood and tiles the villa boasts of a cool comfort all around the year.
The villa has 5 bedrooms, each with its distinctive design and decor that reflects the local theme. The lounge is spacious and a popular room for guests for affable meetings. A fully fitted kitchen is available for guests if they would like to self cater but most prefer to try the home cooking of our chef. You could even learn a trick or two about kerala cuisine if you have the inclination. With a wide waterfront and a lovely pool the outdoor space at Madilina House is perhaps its highlight.
